Real talent shows what they are capable of at a very young age. IBE is no exception to that: as a 17-year old he started taking the world of music and the hearts of the public by storm. After winning an Ed Sheeran cover competition initiated by Belgian national broadcaster Studio Brussel with a beautiful rendition of ‘Tenerife Sea’, IBE’s big breakthrough comes when he takes part in The Voice van Vlaanderen in 2019. He wins the competition by a landslide. 

 

His victory at The Voice, which earned him a record deal, was only the beginning. Five days after the finals, IBE releases his first single ‘Table Of Fools’, which rushes into many playlists and straight to the number one spot on Studio Brussel’s ‘De Afrekening’. 

In no time, IBE became a phenomenon. He manages to win over the crowd at Rock Werchter, plays an intimate set in ‘The Buzz’ at Pukkelpop and sells out two AB Club shows in a blink of an eye. 

In February 2020 IBE wins the ‘MIA-award’ for Best Breakthrough and at that same time his first single ‘Table Of Fools’ goes Platinum. 

 

But then a pandemic hits the world, shows get cancelled and it becomes silent around the newly, young Belgian talent. And in quarantine IBE finds the time to finally take a deep breath after the overwhelming success of 2019 and grabs this chance to grow. As he later states in an interview ‘After the show in Rock Werchter I had the feeling that I skipped my building process’.  

In the next years, he works vastly on his first album ‘Sweet Love’ which he releases in 2022 after the singles ‘Control’ (Gold in 2022), ‘Dumb’ and ‘Perfect Storm’ were already successful earlier that year. The show in a fully packed Marquee at Pukkelpop is just one of the many highlights from the successful album release tour. His songs evolve from heartful piano ballads to more catchy, energetic and upbeat popsongs. The one thing that stays persistent through the process is his genuine, warm voice. 

 

And then again IBE takes his time to learn, to evolve, to mature. In September 2022 he starts at KASK Gent where he is surrounded and submerged by peers and professionals. What seems as a three years pause to the public is again a 3 year quest for the artist, to find his unique sound and determine his authentic, artistic profile.
